Compliance doesn't end at the RFI — introducing COMET Actions

Detecting a potential non-compliance event is the easy part.
What happens next — the investigation, the operator conversation, the engineering judgment, the evidence trail — is where most compliance programs quietly drift back into spreadsheets and email threads.
For the last few years, COMET has automated the first half of NER Clause 4.15: continuous monitoring, event identification, and assessment against each plant's registered Generator Performance Standards. The other half — demonstrating that every flagged event was investigated, reasoned through, and resolved with a defensible record — has lived outside the platform. That changes this quarter, with the release of COMET Actions.
What it is
Actions is a structured tracker inside COMET for every compliance follow-up that an RFI, audit, or data quality flag generates. Each Action carries its context, the GPS clauses in play, the relevant parties, a running update log, and a clear terminal status when the work is done. RFI events stay linked to the Action that resolved them — close the Action, and the linked events move out of the active compliance view without disturbing the historical record.
Why it matters
The AER has been explicit about what Clause 4.15 actually requires: not just a Generator Compliance Program document, but ongoing monitoring, a structured response to deviations, and records that survive time, staff turnover, and scrutiny. Reactive, ex-post assessments don't meet the bar.
Actions makes that record a by-product of the work rather than a separate exercise. When an asset manager asks "what's open across the portfolio?", the answer is one screen. When a regulator asks "show me how this event was investigated", the answer is one Action.
Built on the same principle as the rest of COMET
Engineers should be spending their time on engineering — investigating events, understanding plant behaviour, making the call. The administrative scaffolding around that work should look after itself. Actions is the next step in that direction.
For COMET customers: Actions is rolling out across your portfolio over the coming weeks. Your account team will be in touch.
